Welcome to Crawl AI! This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you make the most of our platform. Whether you’re creating a custom AI assistant or uploading your own data, these instructions will walk you through the process.
Sign Up or Log In
Visit https://www.crawlai.dev/.
Create an account by entering your email, password and user name or log in if you already have an account.
Platform Navigation
The interface is similar to ChatGPT. So use the Navigation Bar on the left to access key features like creating assistants, viewing assistants, and managing your chats.
On the right side of the screen you will be able to see your chats (if chosen) or modify your assistant.
Input Your Prompt
Enter a specific topic or request, such as:
"Create an assistant to help with Y Combinator applications"
Click Submit to start the process.

Crawl AI will automatically scrape data from relevant websites and structure the data into a vector store.
The process may take time: from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the complexity of the request.
Once the assistant is ready, customize its behavior by:
Temperature: Controls how random the assistant's responses are. A lower value makes replies more focused, while a higher value makes them more creative.
Top-p: Limits the response to the most likely words. Lower values make responses more predictable, while higher values allow more variety.
Adding specific instructions to refine its responses.
Saving the Assistant
After modifying the assistant click 'Save' button
You can also give an assistant a unique name.
Access saved assistants from the Assistant List in the navigation bar on the left.
Start a Chat
Select an assistant from your saved list.
Type your query into the chat interface to begin interacting.
Chat Features
Edit Chats: Modify chat names or delete old conversations.
Scroll History: Review past conversations easily.
Full-Screen Chat: Switch to a full-screen view for uninterrupted interaction.
Managing Multiple Chats
Create multiple chats under a single assistant.
Use the Show More button to view additional chats.
Upload Your Files
Select an assistant from your saved list.
Upload documents (e.g., PDFs, Word files) to enhance your assistant’s knowledge.
Link External Sources
Connect your Google Drive or other external storage to integrate additional data sources.
Managing Uploaded Data
View, download, or delete uploaded data via your assistant settings.
Be Specific with Prompts
Provide clear and concise instructions for the best assistant performance.
Leverage Assistant Expertise
Tailor each assistant to a specific use case, such as academic research or business planning.
Experiment with Parameters
Adjust settings like temperature to fine-tune responses based on your needs.
